The trunk of the palm tops out at 10 metres above sea level, while the fronds reach up to 30 metres above sea level, with 7 kilometres (4 miles) of beachfront on both sides of the crescent.[3] The Palm Jumeirah has been built in phases since 2001, with completion expected around 2020.[4]

The beach is located on the eastern end of the Palm Jumeirah, in front of the Atlantis hotel.

The beach is accessible by boat from Atlantis and also by foot from The Palm’s Promenade, which connects The Palm to mainland Dubai. It has an area of 4 million square feet (370,000 m2) and an average width of 250 yards (230 m), making it one of the largest beaches in Dubai.
