When it launched in April 1912, Titanic was the largest man-made moving object ever built at that time. It was called a dream ship due to its grandeur and luxury. However, on April 15th of the same year, the Titanic sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean after colliding with an iceberg. Sometimes referred to as one of the greatest engineering failures in history, it is an excellent example of why you shouldn’t always trust what looks good on paper.

There were three swimming pools onboard: one for men only; one for women only; and one which was open to both men and woman.

It took 20 months to build the Titanic at a cost of $7.5 million (or $400 million today). However, this price tag doesn’t take into account all of the other costs associated with building such a large vessel including materials (steel plates), labor (shipyard workers).
