But if you’re sure that building is for you, then let’s get started!

If you’re looking to build a new gaming computer, the first thing you need to decide is what kind of system you want. There are three main options:

There are plenty of other sub-categories within these three main types, but for our purposes we’re going to focus on the differences between pre-built systems and custom-built systems.

Pre-built systems can be very affordable and convenient, but they lack the flexibility that makes building your own computer so satisfying. The best pre-built gaming PCs are built with high-end components by companies like Alienware, CyberpowerPC, and Origin PC. These companies use higher quality parts than traditional OEMs like Dell or HP because they have specific performance targets in mind, so they can’t skimp on anything without hurting their reputation with gamers. But even these top-tier brands don’t offer much customization—you get what they put together for you, and that’s it.

Custom-built systems give you more control over every aspect of your build process, from choosing your components to building them into a case yourself (or paying someone else to do it). You also have much more flexibility over how much money you spend—if you’re willing to put in the time, patience, research needed

The best thing about building your own computer is that you can make it exactly how you want it. You can choose the components, the case, and even the operating system. Here are some of the things you’ll need to consider before getting started:

What components do I need?

What kind of graphics card should I get?

How much storage space do I need?

What size power supply do I need?

How much RAM should I get?

The best gaming PC can be built in a number of ways. You can buy all the parts separately and put them together yourself, or you can buy a pre-built system from a company like Alienware or MSI.

The latter option is more expensive — but it’s also easier to manage, especially if you’re less experienced with PC building.

There are also many other options for building your own PC, including both custom and off-the-shelf components. We’ll talk about those later on in this guide.

In this guide we’ll explain how to build a gaming PC from scratch using the most popular parts for gaming PCs that have been tested by professional reviewers like us at Tom’s Hardware.

We’ll also look at our picks for the best graphics cards, motherboards, memory kits and storage devices right now.

This guide is designed to help you build a PC that can run any game at 1080p with 60 frames per second, or 4K at 30fps. We’re not going to get too bogged down in the details of what kind of graphics card and processor you need here, as that will depend on your budget and how much you want to spend on your new machine.

You will need some basic tools such as a screwdriver, pliers, and a socket set. The rest is just plugging things together.

Step 1: Choose Your Components

Building your own gaming PC can be a fun experience, but it can also be a bit daunting if you don’t know where to start.

The first thing to do is decide what kind of games you want to play and the resolution at which you want to play them. The higher the resolution (i.e., 1080p, 1440p or 4K), the more graphics card power you’ll need. If you’re just playing older games or esports titles like League of Legends or Overwatch, then a lower-end graphics card will suffice. If you’re planning on playing newer games at high resolutions or if you play competitively, then you’ll want something more powerful.

If you’re not sure what kind of components work best together for your needs, there are plenty of guides out there that can help walk you through the process of picking parts. We’ve got one in our guide to building an affordable gaming PC for under $1,000 and another in our guide to building an ultra-high-performance gaming PC for under $1,500 (both guides use AMD Ryzen processors). I have the same questions. I was looking at the Cyberpower Gaming PC, but it isn’t on Amazon and I’m not sure if this is something that I should go with or not.

I need help building a gaming PC for $500-600. I want to play Overwatch, CSGO, and maybe Fortnite or PUBG. The only thing that would be on max settings is Overwatch.

What do you think would be a good option for me? Also, what parts do you recommend for $500-600?

Building a PC is hard, but it’s also easy.

The problem is that there are so many options and decisions to make that it can be overwhelming. For example, there are dozens of different CPUs, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. There are even more motherboards to choose from. And then there’s the memory and storage—and the list goes on.

But building a PC isn’t like buying a new MacBook Pro or Surface Book: You don’t have to worry about whether or not your components will work together (as long as you’re using compatible parts). You don’t have to worry about compatibility issues between different versions of Windows 10 or macOS Mojave. You just need to know how to put everything together and then install your operating system of choice.

This guide will walk you through the process step by step so that when you’re done building your rig, you’ll be ready to play games on ultra settings at 1080p resolution or higher with no sweat.
