The Ford Transit is a range of light commercial vehicles produced by the Ford Motor Company since 1965. Originally a front-engined vehicle built on a chassis, the Transit has been produced with a rear-wheel drive layout since September 1981 and as a front-wheel drive van since 1988. The model has also been sold as the Ford E-Series, both in North America and Australia.

In North America, the Transit is sold in regular wheelbase and long wheelbase versions, while in the United Kingdom, it is only available in long wheelbase form. In other markets, such as Europe and Asia, only LWB models are offered.

The Ford Transit has been assembled at its current factory location in Kocaeli Province, Turkey (formerly Türk Traktör) since 1986. However, it was not officially introduced there until 1992 due to protectionist policies by Türk Traktör’s parent company Kayseri Metal Sanayi which did not allow rival products from third parties to be assembled on its production lines.

The Transit was originally developed by Ford of Britain in collaboration with West German coachbuilders Schlingmann and Hanomag. It was launched in 1965 as the first rear-engined light

The Ford Transit is a series of light commercial vehicles produced by the American manufacturer Ford since 1965. It is the replacement for the earlier Ford Thames 400E and 500E models, which were introduced in the 1950s. The term “Transit” was first applied to a van based on the Ford Cortina Mark I, but with a front fascia that resembled an American pickup truck. The Transit was designed as a competitor to the Volkswagen Type 2 and was one of the first large vans in Europe to feature sliding side doors.

In 1965, Ford of Britain replaced its E Series vans with a new model line called the Transit. The first generation Transit was essentially a reworked version of the E Series van, with a more upright front end and less rounded sides. It continued in production until 1972 when it was replaced by the second generation model which had been launched in 1971 as a prototype. The new model was known internally as “Project Redcap”. It was essentially a facelift of its predecessor but featured an all-new engine range and larger capacity cargo area.

In 1978, Ford’s Australian subsidiary introduced this generation of Transit to Australia. This version featured an all-new chassis design

The Ford Transit is a range of light commercial vehicles produced by the Ford Motor Company. The Transit is primarily a panel van, although passenger versions are produced. The Transit drives the rear wheels and has historically been one of the most common vans used in Europe and elsewhere. The Transit is also built in Brazil, China, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and South Africa.

The current model is marketed worldwide as the Ford Transit, although it is sold as the Vauxhall Movano in Great Britain and as the Volkswagen Crafter in Germany and some other markets. Until 2014, it was also branded as the Econovan in Japan. The first generation Transit was launched in 1950 as a replacement for the earlier Ford Thames 400E light van; this vehicle was found to be too small for contemporary British buyers’ needs. In 1959, a larger model was introduced alongside the existing model to compete with the recently introduced Bedford CA series; this became known as the “prefect” after 1962 when it was given its own chassis code (F).

In 1972, a third generation model appeared on a new platform that allowed longer length vans; an extended wheelbase version of this model was produced until 1982. In 1978, a fourth generation model

The new Ford Transit van is available in two body styles: the high roof and the low roof. The high roof model is considered the cargo version of the vehicle and it has a higher ceiling than the low-roof version. It can reach speeds up to 130 mph and gets an EPA estimated rating of 18 mpg in city driving and 25 mpg on highways. If you need even more power than this, there are three optional engines available: a 3.7L V6 that produces 295 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque; a 5.0L V8 that produces 350 hp and 380 lb-ft of
