However, there are ways to improve them – both for safety purposes and for aesthetics.
If you’ve ever bought one of these wardrobes, you will have noticed that it comes with a set of white plastic handles on the front. If you want to change them out, here’s how:
Remove the old handles by unscrewing their base plate with a screwdriver (or pliers) and pulling them off.
Measure the length of each handle slot on the front of your wardrobe and cut a piece of wood or MDF (medium density fibreboard) to fit inside it. This can be just over an inch thick, which will give plenty of support but still allow your hand through freely. Note that if you want to use this method on more than one door it might be easier to use two pieces of wood instead of one large one – so measure twice before cutting once!
