IKEA Pax Door Panel. The purpose of this project is to replace the door panels on a IKEA Pax wardrobe with solid wood paneling. This will allow you to have a much more customized look than the standard options from IKEA. The first step was to disassemble the entire wardrobe, including all doors and drawers. The top panel was removed by removing 4 screws and then pulling the top panel off of its base. Once this was done, the rest of the unit could be disassembled by removing all screws holding it together. Once we had everything taken apart, we started prepping for assembly. We cut our boards down to size and prepped them for staining with sand paper and wipe on polyurethane.
Once all boards were stained and dried overnight, we reassembled our units using pocket hole screws from Kreg Jig® . We also added new hardware from Home Depot – specifically these hinges . These are great because they are flush mounted so there’s no need for additional trimming which would make installation even easier!
At this point we had everything assembled again.
