Disney is the most popular amusement park in the world, with an estimated 150 million visitors each year. Opened in 1955, it is the oldest of all Disney parks. Many people are surprised to learn that there was a time when Walt Disney didn’t have enough money to build his theme park — and had to turn to outside investors for help.

Disney Cruise Line is a cruise line and subsidiary of Walt Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products. It was founded in 1971 and operates the cruise ships Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.
Disney Cruise Line has the distinction of being the first major cruise line to offer family-oriented cruises with children’s programing, from character breakfasts to evening events featuring Disney characters. The company’s ships also offer an alternative for people who want to avoid the casinos, loud music and partying that are common on other cruise lines. In addition, families can book staterooms with connecting doors for their children.
The first cruise ship built by Disney Cruise Line will be named after one of the most famous princesses of all time — The Little Mermaid. The new ship will join the fleet in 2021 as part of a $1 billion expansion effort by Disney Cruise Line.
Disney Cruise Line offers three itineraries out of Port Canaveral: four-, five- and seven-night Bahamas cruises; 7-night Western Caribbean cruises; 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruises; 14-night Panama Canal cruises; 15-night Bahamian cruises; 9-night Alaska cruises; 11-night Canada/New England
The Disney Fantasy cruise ship has a variety of staterooms available. The price of these rooms depends on whether you want an inside or outside room, the size of the stateroom, and where in the ship it is located. All rooms have private bathrooms and balconies. Some rooms are larger than others and offer more privacy for families, groups of friends or couples traveling together.
The cheapest room on the Disney Fantasy is an inside cabin that costs $2,149 per person for a seven-night cruise. This room is 80 square feet and sleeps up to four people. If you are looking for something larger, there are two options: a family suite that sleeps six people but costs $6,999 per person; or a concierge-class suite that has 1,035 square feet of space and sleeps up to four people, costing $13,499 per person (plus taxes).
The smallest room on board is called “standard” class and has two twin beds that can be pushed together into one king bed or separated with a curtain if you prefer sleeping separately (this type of configuration was not available when we booked our trip). These rooms have little storage space but do have a small table next to one bed where your coffee
The Disney Dream is a cruise ship owned and operated by Disney Cruise Line. It was the first new ship for the line in five years, after the christening of Disney Magic in 1998. The vessel entered service on May 5, 2011, sailing from Port Canaveral, Florida on seven-night Bahamian cruises.
The Disney Dream was built by Meyer Werft at its Papenburg, Germany shipyard. The ship is similar to that of its sister ships, with a length of 1,132 feet (343 m), width of 116 feet (35 m) and draft of 28 feet (8.5 m). It has a gross tonnage of 147,800 GT and a deadweight tonnage of 75,000 DWT. It has an ice-strengthened hull for year-round operations in Antarctica. The ship’s interior decorations were designed by Walt Disney Imagineering.[2][3]
The exterior design is inspired by classic American ocean liners such as RMS Queen Mary and SS Normandie.[4] There are two masts which carry the main propulsion units.[5]
The Disney Dream features several dining options including three main restaurants: Parrot Cay (buffet-style), The Pearly
The price of a Disney Cruise is not cheap. The least expensive option is the Disney Wonder, which starts at $399 per night for a standard room during the summer. But if you want to sail with Mickey and Minnie in style, you’ll have to pay up. On the most expensive itinerary, which includes stops at Castaway Cay, Port Canaveral and Nassau, Bahamas, the cost of your seven-night cruise could be more than $6,000 per person — and that’s before you add on tips and other extras.
Disney Cruise Line is known for its themed rooms, which can range from standard cabins to immersive theming like The Little Mermaid’s Under the Sea Cabins or Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear Suites. If you’re looking for something extra special, there are plenty of options here as well: You can spend your days relaxing in a spa tub or swimming in an adults-only pool area with a waterfall wall. Or you can enjoy some R&R at Senses — A Disney Spa by Pevonia located on deck 7 of both ships.
But even if you don’t want any of these luxurious amenities (or don’t want to pay extra for them), there are still plenty of options available for every budget.
Disney Cruise Line is a cruise line operating from the Port of Miami. It was formed in 1988 and is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company (which, in turn, owns about 95% of the company).
The company operates four ships that are divided into three classes: Fantasy, Magic and Wonder. The newest ship is the Fantasy class vessel called Harmony of the Seas, which at 228 meters (748 ft) long and 16 decks tall, is currently the world’s largest cruise ship according to Guinness World Records.
The first two cruise ships were based on two ocean liners owned by the Disney company: SS Bay Lake and SS Oceanic. The original plan was to sail these ships between New York City and Bermuda while they were docked there during the winter months; however, it was quickly realized that this would not be profitable enough for Disney to justify its investment. So instead of using them on weeklong cruises, they were used as hotel ships in Florida near Walt Disney World Resort until their retirement in 1992.
In 1989, Disney Cruise Line introduced its third ship—the first “built from scratch” by Disney—the MS Discovery II (renamed MS Adventure). In 1994 it introduced
The Disney Wish is the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, and it’s set to launch in 2021. The ship will be built by Meyer Turku Shipyard, which has constructed a variety of cruise ships for both Disney and other companies.
The Disney Wish will be the largest ship in the fleet, with capacity for over 5,000 passengers. It will also be part of a new class of ships that feature three restaurants instead of two.
The Disney Wish will be able to accommodate up to 7,000 guests at one time when it launches in 2021
The Disney Cruise Line has announced that it will begin construction on a new ship that will be called the Disney Wonder. The new ship is scheduled to enter service in 2021, with a homeport of Galveston.
The ship will be approximately 150,000 gross tons, which is about twice as large as the current Disney Fantasy. It will also have about 1,250 staterooms and have a maximum capacity of 4,000 passengers.
The new ship will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, which has previously built ships for Star Cruises and Genting Hong Kong. The shipyard also built the next generation of Oasis-class cruise ships for Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Edge. The last newbuild order from Meyer Werft was placed in July 2017, when Norwegian Cruise Line ordered two vessels from Meyer Werft’s sister company STX Europe.
Disney Cruise Line also announced that it will expand its fleet with two additional ships in 2020 and 2022. These two ships will be similar to the existing fleet but with some modifications for better efficiency and increased guest experience — including more cabins with verandas (balconies).
Disney Cruise Line has announced the 2020 Disney Wonder will be sailing from 2022 to 2023. The new itinerary will be a 7-night voyage from Port Canaveral to Nassau and Castaway Cay, Bahamas and includes stops in Key West, Florida and Cozumel, Mexico.
The Disney Wonder is a 3,100-passenger cruise ship that debuted in 1998. It is currently sailing on a 12-night itinerary that departs from Miami and visits Grand Cayman Islands, Costa Maya and Cozumel before returning home.
Disney Cruise Line has not yet announced pricing for the new 7-night itinerary, but we expect it will be similar to the price of other short cruises from Miami.
Disney Cruise Line will be adding two new ships to its fleet in 2020 and 2021. The first, a larger ship called the Disney Fantasy, will be joining the fleet in 2021. The second is a smaller ship named the Disney Dream that’s slated to enter service in 2020.
There’s a lot of speculation about how these new ships will differ from the current fleet, but here’s what we know so far:
Disney Fantasy
The biggest news is that this ship will be nearly 30% larger than any other Disney cruise ship! At 115,000 tons, it’s a little bigger than Carnival’s largest ships but smaller than some of Royal Caribbean’s ships. That means there will be more staterooms and more public spaces — including an indoor water park on Deck 4 that should be fun for kids on hot days at sea.
The Fantasy will also have a few unique features:
A family suite with bunk beds and a private balcony — it’s designed for families who want privacy during their cruise but still want to be able to spend time together as well as a dedicated concierge team dedicated solely to helping families plan their cruises and vacations.
A spa with two levels devoted exclusively to adults only — no children allowed!
Disney Cruise Line is a cruise line and subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, owned by the French company, that was founded in 1998. The company’s first ship, Disney Magic, was launched in 1998, followed by Disney Wonder in 1999. Its third ship, Disney Dream, was launched on May 28, 2012.
Disney Cruise Line operates four ships: the Disney Magic (retired), the Disney Wonder (retired), and the Disney Dream. The fourth ship will be named the “Disney Fantasy”.
The first two ships were built at BAE Systems Naval Ships’ Govan Shipyard in Glasgow, Scotland; the third at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany; and the fourth at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Italy.
