We live in Colorado. We have a patio that is big and beautiful, but no doors here at home. The sandbox kids and I love having gatherings and parties outside but we are always anxious about bugs, bees and wasps getting into the food. We built our first patio doors a few years ago with some help from the grand old master of carpentry his self my dad. We then made 3 more set of doors to close off part of the patio so we could install an electrical outlet, lay a filter system and get some shade! It has been wonderful but as you might guess I am a garage door or gate opener when there are rollers or panels to move or lift. Although the lift does work well it bogs down with the extra weight and I have had to replace it twice already. On the back side of this area is an ugly pvc fence that will be replaced next year by our world famous backyard installer bud Gene. Dad also helped us with building privacy walls, inside rolling shades for storms and a new gazebo to hold our motorized misting system for those dry summers we have here in colorado!
You’ve loved your French doors for many years. You love how they look. How they open and flow with the breeze. And OH! Have we mentioned you adore them!! But, as time passes, your precious ones begin to get a little rambunctious. Now they are at the ages where they want to run and play outside but momma isn’t having it.

There are three major types of patio doors with screens:
Sliding Screen Doors
These sliding screen doors use a track system similar to that found on a regular sliding glass door, but there’s no glass involved. Instead, a mesh screen is attached along the entire track lengthwise. This design allows air to flow through while keeping insects out — which makes it perfect for warm climates where mosquitoes can be an issue during warmer months. Sliding patio door screens can be made from metal or plastic mesh; metal mesh is more durable but plastic mesh is easier to clean and less prone to rips or tears that could let bugs in.
